Dorit Chrysler is an Austrian born composer, musicologist and sound artist, as well as the co-founder of the NY Theremin Society. Currently based in Berlin and New York, her work explores the application of the theremin instrument in various mediums. Dorit is the founder of “Dame Electric” a festival dedicated to Female Pioneers in Electronic Music and she is the recipient of the Austrian Composition State Stipend 2023.

The Theremin, based on electromagnetic fields, is one of the first electrical instruments and was created in 1920. Dorit is the current creative director of the NYThereminSociety, a non profit platform to support Theremin applications in various art disciplines. The NYTS celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025.
