Monika Voithofer studied musicology and philosophy in Graz and Vienna. In her dissertation she is working on a historical-systematic study of conceptual music, for which she spent longer research stays at various institutions in London, New York City and Chicago. The main focus of her academic work is on music aesthetics, (musical) avant-gardes of the 20th century and contemporary art forms of the 21st century. She also works as a freelance cultural journalist.
