Sound Postcards

10pm third sound level

Nguyễn + Transitory

© Merv Espina

is a live sound work drawn from an ongoing series of synthesizer-based practices initiated in 2018. The work treats composition as transmission, engaging sound as material shaped by distance, displacement, and migrational histories.

The practice is situated within non-canonical lineages of sound making that understand composition as culturally and politically embedded. Form emerges through accumulation, drift, and situated temporalities rather than inherited models of abstraction, development, or resolution. Sound operates as a carrier of memory and locality, resisting universalized systems of authorship and technique.

The performance unfolds as a single sound postcard composed in real time. Listening between the performers, and attunement to the presence of the audience, actively shape the direction and duration of the work. Sound is written live through ongoing decisions of density, register, and temporal pressure, holding open the tension between address and reception.

Developed from a transfeminist artistic position, the work insists on listening as a political practice shaped by care, refusal, and reorientation. Transition is not staged as passage or transformation, but sustained as an ongoing condition in which sound remains unstable, accumulative, and unresolved.

Cora Leli Hausch

Co-ra is the new “pop” project by viennese sound & media artist Cora Leli Hausch (she/her). After following a strict MAX/ MSP-based diet for countless years she channelled her inner teenager, threw out her savings, went modular and started blending cheesy arpeggios with sweet sweet noise. Ascend is the result of one year of working on these new endeavors. Edging between euphoria and destruction, co~ra embraces states of excess and heightened emotional arousal through the use of oversaturated melodic structures borrowed from dance music, ultimately aiming for the dissolution of the self in a sea of white noise. Ascend mirrors elements of the artist’s own path through gender transition as a quest to rediscover and embrace a long lost self.

Fray

11pm third sound level

Adele Knall

© Felix R. Huber

Adele Knall’s performance unfolds as a multilayered exploration of movement, change, and resistance. Sound, voice, and electronic impulses break through fixed forms, weaving together in transitions where identities remain negotiable. Every vibration, every loop, every modulated voice becomes an act of evasion: from norms, from expectations, from predetermined paths.

In Fray, sounds shift, condense, dissolve, and reassemble. Voices appear, vanish, intertwine, and fragment into temporary bodies moving through space and time. The space itself becomes a site of resistance: familiar boundaries dissolve. Here, sound becomes an act of freedom, an experience of the un-fixed.

The performance invites the audience to experience transitions not as loss, but as productive force. Every sound, every condensation, every transformation is an act of defiance against the established – against rigidly set limits of perception, identity, and space. Sound becomes a manifesto, a resistant flow, an invitation to cross boundaries of perception, identity, and space. Fray creates moments in which listening, feeling, and thinking exist in a continuous flux: unpredictable, open, radically mobile, unstoppable. The performance becomes an experience of resistance through sound, an invitation to dwell in the in-between, to explore, and to reposition oneself.
