Gerhard Eckel is Professor of Computer Music and Multimedia and head of the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics, University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz. In the past he worked at IRCAM in Paris and at Fraunhofer IMK in Germany. Eckel takes both an artistic and scientifc interest in matters of sound. He creates sound and music installations for real and virtual spaces. In his most recent artistic research project he develops a new intermedial art form: Embodied Generative Music.
