Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka (*1984 Regensburg) is musician, sound/media artist and researcher living in Graz. She studied double bass, musicology and contemporary music in Dresden, Rostock and Graz and in 2018 completed a CAS in interdisciplinary musical creation at ZhdK. She holds a PhD in Music Aesthetics from KUG Graz. Her artistic work focuses on sound and perceptions at the intersection of different senses, physical and digital media and artistic-theoretical contexts, combining analog and digital instruments, visual art, text, performance, digital media and radio. Many of her works are collaborations in interdisciplinary collectives and use open, process-based formats. As musician she specializes in contemporary and improvised music. She is founding member of Ensemble Schallfeld with which she tours worldwide. Besides her artistic work, she is active as researcher, teacher and media pedagogue, giving workshops, seminars and lectures at universities and institutions in Austria and beyond.
